It's nice to see that these fellows are domestically releasing Warp, but I do wish they'd release it on vinyl as well. I know they do produce vinyl as Underworld "Slippy People" is available as a 12" from them. Why oh why no Warp vinyl. idm: i know there is some bitter feelings about Instinct comps, but the new compilation of ntone material is really top notch. IIts total trip hop as it outta be done. Heavy on the trip and light on the hop. IDM hop anyone? Overall its a very dark sort of album with the spooky sort of feel I got from the Sabres "Haunted Dancehall". Some really out there stuff from Coldcut, Hex and Neotropic. Top cut on here is definitely Neotropic "37th Northwest" (?). Its very spooky and dark. The baseline comes creeping into the ambient darkness lingering long enough for you to get a feel for the rhythm. Then in comes the percussion so far off where you'd expect it to fit. Absolutely tops. Definitely worth the purchase price of $9.99 for a double lp. I have never seen an ntone single here in Chicago, which is odd because ninjatune is everywhere. -- Mark Bowen mb@gettins.bche.uic.edu "The universe," said [the devil], "is a Ph.D thesis that God was unable to successfully defend." -James Morrow
