I just got this in my local record shop in Surrey, England because the cover design looked almost identical to Drexciya's Journey Home. This sounds like a stupid reason to but it but I loved that Drexciya release soooo much. What does anyone know about this artist or group (Elecktroids or whatever they are called)? When I first heard this 4-tracker I thought that it was another group going on the electro bandwagon but now I absolutely love every single track. I am too young to compare it to original electro but as far as I am concerned, I can't see how an 'electro' track of this minimal style can get any better. Are Warp releasing a series of electro releases with the same sort of design with a little picture in the top left hand corner of the sleeve? If they are then what has been released so far? -Ed

A few young guys from somewhere in England. Amateurish and uninspired bedroom electro. They might as well have picked a demo completely at random. Do yourself a favor and get a copy of Malcom X's "No Sell Out", maybe something by Afrika Bambaata (sp?) or even New Order's original "Confusion" 12". On 16 Jul 1995, Edward Pond wrote:

'Fraid I don't know anything, except this is their first release on WARP, and possibly their first release ever (unless the name is a scam/alter-ego for someone else!)

If WARP are making a series of this style (Don't you think the Elecktroids stuff sounds very similar to some of the stuff on "The Journey Home"?) with stylistically similar artwork, then these are the only two in the "series" J ^ _ _ __ __ __ __ ____ __ __ the ( `'`' / /. \ |. ) |. ) ( ( /_ _| /. ) |. ) \_/\_/ (__\_| |__\ |_| |__) /_| \___| |__\

There's a review (3/5) of the single in Musik, but I can't be sure if the reviewer is taking the piss or what. Rob.

Well I don't know if there's going to be a 'series' of electro releases per se... but the upcoming release by another new US artist ULTRADYNE has identical artwork to _The Journey Home_ and _Kilohertz_. And Ultradyne's 12" (_E Coli_) is electroey. On the other hand maybe WARP have just adopted a new standard artwork form for a bit. BTW. The Elecktroids album _Elecktro World_ (NB. Similarity to _Computer World_) is, I think, going to be *the* seminal electro album. Untouchable! greg The Official WARP Web Site 3 0 3 http://www.ncl.ac.uk/~n264671/wap-indx.html
