...and Lance fails to mention the best of the bunch...VOMIT LUNCH! :) [Who should be known for the wonderfully decorated picture 10" on Hot Air last year, a delightful item that also came out on a cute 3"CD. Also has a new 7" out this week on Hot Air.] BTW--speaking of Kid...did the Disc 2x12" of lock grooves ("Transfer") ever come out? tra-la-de-doe. JJTar. --- Peace Hugs and Unity Jason J. Tar W. W. J. I had a Vomit Lunches remix cdep on vinyl comm that was just brutal. i only gave it a short listen because it was so sonically abusive! But their remix on the Kid606 & Friends comp is definitely much better.

It has not come out yet but will soon on the Berkeley, CA- based Deluxe label who are better known for releasing Matmos's excellent The West cd/12" as well as the remarkably fresh Balance Man cd. Disc's Transfer LP will contain 105 lock grooves and 10 tracks. For those who dont know, Disc is the collaborative effort of Kid606, Lesser, and Matmos. I swear I heard that Kurt Ralske and Christian Fennesz also contributions on this LP but the Deluxe Records page doesnt mention anything about them. Regardless, Tranfer should be excellent. The VC release is the same as the Hot Air release, but without the fresh packaging. The mix of Kid is more tame, but that isn't necessarily "better". :) I love that first ep! On level of some of Yoshihide's greater cutup works. BTW--Have you seen the Tool 7" on CDR?? I've read about it...supposedly takes each piece to the 3--4 minute length. Since I mainly sample from CDs, I'm tempted to go that format instead of the 7". Same tracklisting?? JJTar --- Peace Hugs and Unity Jason J. Tar W. W. J. D? man, if the design of the transfer 12" is anything like what they show on this site, it instantly gets my vote for best designed vinyl of 2000. ~ david --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey Lance, Is this Kurt Ralske of Ultra-Vivid Scene fame? If so, what has he been going since the early 90's? Take Care, Mike Taylor

Yes that is the same Kurt Ralske. Since that time he as reinvented himself into an experimental ambient-electronica producer with his own label Miau-Miau International. On Miau-Miau, Kurt has two releases under the name Cathars and his own name, Kurt Ralske. The Cathars album, called <amorpheus>, is a warm glitchy ambient release somewhere in the neighborhood of Oval meets Pulse Programming and was a favorite of 1999. His Kurt Ralske ep also has a warm ambient sound but more drone-oriented. Kurt also has remixes on the recent Kid606 & Friends Vol 1 comp on Tigerbeat6, the Fingernail remix album on Fuzzy Box, and the excellent Fluoroscopic Kid soft drink jihad remix ep on Sonic Therapy as well as mixes on the forth- coming Hrvatski and Conrad Schnitzer remix albums. There is also a Cathars track on the Ricci's Pieces tribute comp cd on the Mindfield/FAQT label. So as you can see, Kurt Ralske is quite active. For more info and some soundbites check http://www.miau-miau.com And to hear his excellent Fluoroscopic Kid remix: http://www.sonictherapy.com/str003.html Hope this helps! -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
