umm, excuse me
if you have been foolowing richard kirk/cab-volt from the mid-80's until
present, you'll notice that they've pretty much been on top or ahead of the
contemporary electronic/dance trends. take a listen to "crackdown", or
"diskono" or even the album plasticity which is pretty recent, but still
very playable in all sorts of sets.
youth didn't just jump from killing joke to the orb to doing his butterfly
assosiated stuff either. you'll notice his name on early dance tracks from
the mid to late 80's as well on a lot of industrial/techno type tracks w/
other people like evil eddie richards, simon boswell, tony (moody boys)
thorpe, klf, etc.... he also did some nice ambient stuff w/ ben
(electrotette) watkins in the mid/late 80's on illuminated that i spin quite
of ten in ambient sets.
i can't say i really ever liked early underworld, or the incredibly hideous
doot-doot record before that, but i'm sure a lot of their current sound and
success is due mostly to the enlistment of darren emerson who is a pretty
influential UK dj/producer.
ahhhh.. that feeling of letting off some steam......
