I got Stoned Immaculate by Dub Syndicate the other day and it's marvellous. Any mellow extremely echoey dub recommendations would be much appreciated. I know it's not idm, but a lot of practitioners of idm seem to take a cue from it (Seefeel, Leftfield etc). Depends what kind of dub your looking for, but for "extremely echoey dub" you may want to give "No Protection" (Massive Attack vs. Mad Professor) a try. Its a great disc and trippy as hell. Far better than their regular release "Protection" IMO. Another great dub release, although not as echoey as Dub Syndicate or Mad Professor, is the new single by Dread Zone. Four cuts that range from straight ahead dub to dancey pop/dub. The "Dreadzone Mix" is incredible and incorporates lots of different styles of dub in a four minute track (goes from dub to dance to tribal, etc). There's also an Underworld remix which is great and like many of there other mixes goes close to 10 minutes. BTW, the disc (cd5) is called "Zion Youth". MC

I would recommend anything by Mad Professor, judging by what I have heard. I've got Dub Me Crazy parts 2 and 4, and both are wicked. btw, did the dub mailing list come to fruition? I remember it being rumoured but don't recall final details being clarified/

I have DC Ruts w/Mad Professor and the Twinkle Bros. "Dub Massacre Vol2" and they are from pretty different areas but both are incredible! DC Ruts has some funk instrumentals that are dubbed out (makes me wish that A Certain Ratio had done that earlier than "Sextet") and Twinkle Bros is a magical transformation of an otherwise so-so reggae LP into a wicked dub sequel. I have both, and listen to the original (Burden Bearer) rarely compared to "Dub Massacre 2"... I'd consider Mad Prof's mixing to be IDM because of the arm-chair attention factor it evokes in me... similar in intensity to Black Dog or HIA for me... I would recommend the following... V/A - Serenity Dub 2.1 p.m. inc! cd 3302 Massive Attack vs mad Professor - No Protection Both are brilliant, and are frequently being pushed out of my speakers at high volume. btw, who else has the Serenity Dub? Who can tell me more about this label? I was int he rekkid shop picking up a copy of 'I Care...' (which is brilliant) when i realized I was grooving along to some great dubby stuff. I asked what it was..and bought it. Holy impulse purchase batman. jay ______________________________________________________________________________ Jason W. I got "Stoned Immaculate" about 2 years ago and I would thoroughly recommend it to any dub-head. From the On-U label, it is a superb dub reggae album. Unfortunately, I didn't pursue this musical line of thought - cash restrictions I expect :) Rob.

Try 'Songs of Praise' from African Head Charge - also on On-U. Bill Laswell's side project #34591 - Automaton has a great release called 'Dub Terror Exhaust' also highly recommended. kevin

I remember seeing an address dub@priscilla.org for a dub-mailing list, but don't flame me if it doesn't work, I haven't tried it (yet). Cheers, Otto Koppius

I second this recomendation highly. Among the less known stuff ( at least in some circles ) is Audio Active. Groovy Japanese dubbers mixed by Adrian Sherwood with instrumental assistance from the cream of the On-U stable. Their new album "Happy Happer" has just been released and is quite good. I think that their first album "Tokyo Space Cowboys" is a modern dub classic and should not be missed. "Happy Happer" has some truly whacked out sounds too. And, yes the dub list works just fine. PT
