Whoops didn't mean to start a flame war with that post, I was just buzzing cos
of all those good things coming my way and wanted to share it with ya, and
perhaps inform any IDMers in the area what was happening.
Anyway, went to check out Richie H spinning on friday, now with a name like
that on the decks (plus Lil' Louis) you'd expect the place to be rammed
right? Wrong!
Apparently the promoters had kept things quiet deliberately, perhaps too
quiet, and OK it was a small venue, but there where only about 40 people in
the place! (I guess everyone was at Glastonbury). Half of those were
Richie's posse and a quarter music industry blaggers, who just sat around
in the bar all night. The crowd on the dancefloor must have reached 10
people at the height of Richie's set! Credit to him, the music was kicking,
but the poor guy looked bored shitless for the duration and he scarpered
pretty much as soon as he finished. Oh yeah, the sound was so low that I
could chat comfortably to other peeps (when I could find one!) even though
I was dancing right next to a bass bin! I met Kelvin bro of Kenny Larkin -
nice fellah, who was as astounded at the lack of people and atmosphere as
me, quite embarassing really, I guess us Londoners can have our cake and
choke on it too ;-)
Anyway, went to Gay Pride the following day and spent the whole evening
goin mental in the Trade Tent, which was packed with nutters jumping up n
down with their hands in the air -wicked!
Oh yeah, sorry 'bout the low IDM content, but I just thought I'd share this
with ya.
