riz maslen calls herself small fish with spine because she feels like a
small fish in the big pond of dance music. but don't think she's scared;
she's got spine.
she also has talent. as one of the few female producers in a male-dominated
industry, she has a sophisticated understanding of mood, texture and
groove, and a sound that is distinct, infused with style and personality.
she has immersed herself in the studio in the past three years, perfecting
her craft, emerging occasionally to collaborate on projects with some
friends. she appeared on top of the pops with future sound of london and
lends additional textures and sounds to some of their recordings. she was
also a keyboardist with the beloved.
now she's ready to stand on her own. on this collection, you will hear
trippy funked-out grooves, subtle concoctions of unusual rhythms, and
tranquil deep ambient soundscapes.
oh, some of her friends, namely coldcut, freaky chakra, and the brat, are
lending a hand on the upcoming remix project of 'i hate you,' a cut off of
'stickleback'. it'll be available soon.
