Dear list members:
The new album from the collective known as DJ Food is being released on 4 April 2000. You are invited to listen to sound:escape, as we preview Kaleidoscope - in its entirety - over the next few weeks.
It is a stunning and expansive work by two musicians who are decidedly gazing in an ambient direction on this upcoming release.
The first half of the album trips out in familiar ways; after track 6 (first single, The Crow), the recording spirals into ambient space.
If you like Autechre, Boards of Canada, A Reminiscent Drive, Plaid and ... well, DJ Food, then you may very well enjoy Kaleidoscope.
On this upcoming Sunday (23 January), sound:escape will feature the first set of selections from the album, as well as an exclusive interview with PC and Strictly Kev from DJ Food. It was a lively and insightful chat, especially so when their collaboration with legendary American word-jazz poet Ken Nordine was discussed.
The show is archived for one week, so you need not listen live.
sound:escape info and Kaleidoscope track listing follow below.
Please accept my apologies for the cross-posting - this record will appeal to a diverse audience, I feel.
Bon apetit!
Cheers,
Kresh
