>The xart hybrid cd is a documentation of series of events called xart
>hybrid in a projectroom in Copenhagen. The project lasted from November
>1st 1998 to June 30th 1999 and was located in an old soybeanoil-factory at
>the harbour front. The intention with xart hybrid was to create an open
>space based on a variety of current innovations in sound and vision. In
>the period and at that location xart hybrid in collaboration with others
>arranged bars, parties, concerts and exhibitions. The idea of the xart
>hybrid cd is to let the tangible space make the focal point, in which
>diverse projects meet. Projects, whose only point of convergence is that
>they work with electronic sound and music in an experimental and
>investigative manner. Xart hybrid has asked most of the artists who played
>live or otherwise were involved in the soybeanoil-factory to make a
>version or extraction of their live act, or to submit a new track or
>soundpiece for the xart hybrid cd
>
>The xart hybrid group counts Mette Egeskov, Rune Plank Olsen, Pelle
>Krøgholt, Henrik Duus Nielsen, Lars Fynbo og Morten Christiansen The
>xart consult is developed by Pelle Krøgholt.
>
>[1] POLE is a project concocted by the German musician and sound engineer
>Stefan Betke. He has released one ep on the Din label and two albums on
>the Kiff sm label with the titles Pole 1 and Pole 2. Betke has just
>recently established his own label called Scape. Poles track on the xart
>hybrid cd is an edited version of Fremd (Pole 2) played live in xart
>hybrid the 13th of March 1999. [2] Automato counts the three
>landscape(sound)architects Simone Goldate, Martin Osti and Stefan Frank.
>Based in Berlin, theyve been working with a gallery and bar project called
>"Ideenshop" in Berlin Mitte for about two years. They have on the xart
>hybrid cd developed an edited version of their concert in xart hybrid the
>1st of May 1999. Automato works with really few sounds and they modulate
>the sound with a long range of basspedals connected in a complex manner.
>Nothing has yet been realesed, but they are working on a solo cd project.
> [3] Goodiepal is the pseudonym for the Danish musician Kristian Vester.
>He has released several tracks on Danish labels, Multiplex, Hobby
>Industries and Edward Davenport among others. At the moment he is
>collaborating with the English V/vm label on projects called Goodiebag.
>Goodiepal has done several concerts in the xart hybrid and his track on
>the cd is a remix of a remix (Monolakes remix of Various Artist on Fat
>Cap) made out of the principle of an advanced granular synthesis. [4]
>Vanqueur & Substance (René Löwe and Peter Kuschnereit). Both have had
>several joint- and soloprojects released on the Chain Reaction label and
>are based out of Hardwax in Berlin. For the xart hybrid cd they have done
>a new mix based on their live performance in xart hybrid the 18th of
>February 1999. The new mix is one step forward to some new mixes by Scion
>comming up in the new year. [5] Monsters is a sound and visual project
>that took place in Marseilles in March and was an alliance between Gerhard
>Putuznik, Florian Hecker & Chicks on Speed, counting Kiki Moorse, Melissa
>Logan and Alex Murray-leslie. It was then presented in a gallery in
>Marseilles and afterwards shown in the xart hybrid project room, where
>Ramon Bauer participated in the project instead of Hecker. At the xart
>hybrid cd the voices of the Chicks on Speed is mutated by Bauer and
>Putuznik. [6-9] Kran is a kind of music society/sociability venture in
>Copenhagen comprising autodidactic musicians and students from the Royal
>Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen. They organized several hybrid
>concerts with musical elements ranging from punk and jazz to electronic
>wildstyle. They have chosen 4 raw cuts from a sound "investigation" done
>in the xart hybrid the 10th of June 1999. [10] Tordis Berstrand is a
>Danish music critic of advanced electronic music and soundforms. She is an
>architect student and have several times presented her sounds in the xart
>hybrid. The sound collage at the xart hybrid cd is her first release.
>[11] Bjørn Christiansen has through his techno orientated project Bjørn
>Svin released several albums on the Danish label April. Bjørns small sound
>collage on the xart hybrid draw new soundscapes quite different from the
>more common Svin style. [12] Opiate a.k.a. Thomas Knak is a part of the
>trio named Future 3 and has earlier worked under the pseudonym James Bong.
>A year ago he released the solo album "Objects for a Ideal Home" on the
>Danish label April Records. He has recently established the microlabel
>called Hobby Industries, which distributes his own and other Danish
>electronic productions. [13-14] "Min nese" is a collaboration between
>Åsa Sonjasdotter & Kim Hjorthøi, both at the Royal Art Academy in
>Copenhagen. They are Swedish and Norwegian and have worked in different
>contexts from synth pop to ska but have not released anything yet. Their
>collage on the xart hybrid cd is developed from a long collage they
>established in the xart hybrid the 17th of June 1999. [15] Voks is
>Mikkel Moir Pihl whos had several releases on the Danish microlabel,
>Edward Davenport. Voks did a concert in the xart hybrid the 14th of may
>and he has developed a new track for the xart hybrid cd. [16] Wittrock
>& Skaaning is a collaboration between Morten Wittrock & Jesper Skaaning.
>Skaaning is a part of the Future 3 project and he has a solo project
>called Acoustic. Wittrock is with the band Konsum working on a jazz
>orientated electronic style. [17] Versprechen des Kaffeefilters is a
>part of a larger project whose aim is to investigate kitchen equipment
>[coffeemachine, stove, washing machine and the refrigerator] . On the xart
>hybrid cd it is the sound of the coffee machine that is modulated by the
>Lexicon. It is made by the Copenhagen-Berlin resident Kenn Mouritzen. The
>coffeemachine project was presented in the xart hybrid the 27th of
>November 1998 in a form of a sound installation. [18] The xart
>environmental sounds are concrete sounds from the xart hybrid project room
>in Copenhagen recorded by Pelle Krøgholt during a time when the place was
>running and alive. It should give the listener some sense of the atmosphere
> developed in the place. [19] Benny Robert Jørgensen is lektor at the
>videodepartment at the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen. In the xart hybrid
>room he has worked with visualization of sounds. At the xart hybrid cd he
>has made at new track that is a development of his solo cd project B9
>released at April Records last year. [20] MusicsystemM is a wired
>joint venture project consisting of the Danish artist group Superflex, the
>jazz musician August Engkilde and the wildstyle Hiphop dj Kruzhem.
>Superflex recorded animal sounds and played it back for animals recording
>their reaction. Here you find the playground for Kruzhem vs. Biogas wich
>took place several times in the xart hybrid.
