>geez, it was on the front cover of Billboard last october. how much more
>commercial can it possibly get!??
well, i wouldn't write everything off as commercial; i've seen many
good acts get front cover and that doesn't mean they are commercial.
'sides, NME is a UK magazine, and jungle seems to be massive there.
anyway, as to how commercial it can get...VERY.
UK jungle labels are setting up bases with US labels...suburban base
and moonshine is a good example.
i've read some artists are even going to move to the US!
tons of cheap ass jungle comps have been dropped in the UK, and now
some of em are trickling over here. instinct records has released
their 2 disc comp, and seeing as how i've not heard it, but i have
heard almost every track on there anyway, i can say that the compilation
is pathetically mediocre. i think the cover art alone is reason to leave
it on the shelf. two white kid home boys. one with a spear. that is not
the image ANYONE who's really into the music wants to convey. basically,
instinct has insulted anyone into jungle, portraying everyone like the
dorky cover art.
and if i get a slew full of complaints for saying instinct's jungle comp
is a load of 'shite' (all from you know who), fine by me.
would a US label PLEASE get a clue and start doing jungle some justice??
sorry for the non-idm rant.
