I might attribute a little of the lack of trance to the jungle scene. Money could be very tight right now with a lot of labels, and 'jungle' is probably the escape out of low finances. Jungle is o.k. with me, but when I'm being bombarded by Jungle Tekno 1-1 million, Dub Plate Massive(whatever..), Jungle Rhythm Vol. 12, etc.. I'm reluctant to throw out money to it. That is all i've been seeing at my shop. It's been very difficult to find the New Elect. Releases & the so-called IDM albums. Some other subscribers were also talking about the surface noise of SAW II earlier, and this was my reaction when SAW II came out in Mar./Apr. 94. What I did was I bought 2 copies of the 3LP brown vinyl. The first 10 plays were great, but after that, it sounded like a 1930's Lawrence Welk tune. The second copy I bought, I opened 2 weeks ago & immediately 'bounced' it to DAT. Still sounds good, but for $18.99, it better last another 20 more plays, or Warp colored vinyl will NOT be on the top of my list of purchases! As it has been said, go 2CD on this one, for those who are thinking about buying it. Derek Jordan 'it's too bad she won't live... But then again, who does?'

Is this a problem with SAW II exclusively or have people had problems with all the warp colored vinyl (which I just missed out on). complain... I returned my first copy of SAWII and checked over the replacement for obvious flaws - and the result was an improved but still somewhat rough copy. I taped it, so haven't played it much, so can't comment on deterioration, but I have since purchased the CD set (albeit missing one track) for top quality listening. Of the earlier coloured vinyls, I think they are generally better, though every copy of Incunabula I came across on grey ("silver") vinyl was pressed extremely off-centre, while the black ones were acceptable. Also, pressings of RH Kirk's album (all on Black Vinyl AFAIK) were appalling, as g303 knows! Problem is not restricted to WARP however. My Novamute picture disc pressing of Plastikman's "Sheet One" is dreadfully crackly, and always has been. J ^ James Skilton aka Steady J - jamess@firefox.co.uk ^---+ What's in the basket? My Brother!

Hey, I know nobody will believe me, but copy of SAWII was perfect... but that kinda of music, like the Kirk isn't really suited to vinyl, I got Cab. Volts (Conversation?) anyway the 4xLP thing? That's so bad I've only listened to it once, spose I'll have to buy the CD. wonder if this is a marketing ploy :) I have spoken to a WARP person about the quality of pressings, they didn't seem to think they had a problem, so there can't have been *that* many returns. greg The Official WARP Web Site 3 0 3 http://www.ncl.ac.uk/~n264671/wap-indx.html

It's probably JUST this release. I think Warp was very eager to get the album out, and did a crappy job using the type of vinyl they did. I would bank on all the AI albums being pressed at high quality, as they are what REALLY make Warp Records money! Derek Jordan
