maybe today, oyvers from oeyegg@james.avh.unit.no posted this optimistic
reply to an enquiry re. idm journals:

this is yet another title in the ipc publishing empire. if their pilot
issue was indicative of their direction, whilst established acts & artists
will get coverage, lesser known independent audio explorers won't. once
again, democracy in action. the tyranny of the mainstream majority over the
marginal minorities. sadly.
one practical alternative might be for individuals across the world, with
an affinity for progressive elements within contemporary audio, to
contribute periodically to a central source. willing idm-ers across the
world could author material, creating pro-active coverage on an
international scale. this medium is much more exciting. it's accelerated,
unedited & way out of control. perhaps not "our only hope" but without the
commercial exigencies of traditional publishing, this could become highly
credible & creative. would anyone be interested? let's work through the
possibilities..
