I thought I should clarify the following, as I seem to have had several requests recently... For historical reasons: Names ----- Evolution == Evolution Productions Limited Crewkerne - This evolved after originally setting the label up as just Evolution, but then having hassles with a couple of other labels with Evolution in their title. Link == An alias for Mark Pritchard (conceived in 1991). e621 == An alias for Tom Middleton (conceived in 1991). Projects -------- Reload == Projects which have a more dance club orientated appeal - the more industrial side of things if you like. Global Communication == Projects which are more suited to listening to in your living room, or in the car etc... Jedi Knights == Projects which are traditionally descibed as being 'electro'. Chameleon == Projects which can be categorized as 'jungle'. To be honest, I do not see what all the fuss is about - fair enough they have a distinctive sound (which could be classed as just Tom and Mark) - but each release is categorized quite logically. Using this method enables their music to be distributed on different record labels (to some extent) without too many problems. (For example, Global Communication is strictly in the hands of Dedicated, except for remixes...) Some people were confused with the Antacid EP - which is Link credited (although it does state that Tom is involved). This is a simple progression from all of the earlier Evolution releases (The Reload EP, The Autoreload EP, The Biosphere EP, ..., The Antacid EP). Generally speaking - if Mark produces a track which subsequently has Tom's involvement, it will still be credited to Mark as Link and Tom as e621. As for criticisms of the Theory of Evolution - it had, from the outset, been marketed as a compilation album, and the tracks that were present were considered the best selection, given the limited time they had to play with. This is not any kind of new Link album... it is a compilation of present and future Evolution material. In this respect, it has proved benficial for people like Wish Mountain and Zak and Stepper who will be releasing things later in the year on Evolution. I do not object to criticism of the music - as this can be down to personal taste. What does annoy me is when people get all bitchy about what is released and why they should have done it differently. Anyway enough of this... one cannot win in the music industry - there are too many people out there to make things difficult. Incidently, the Evolution tour, which was due to play in London tonight, has been cancelled by the Raw club... Tom and Mark are trying to find a new venue for a couple of weeks time. Ben.
