Actually there was a decent sized group of us there. I ran into: Greg
Earle, Tamara Palmer, Mike Battaglia, John Shipley, Pete Ashdown, I'm
sure there were others.
It was a pretty good show but not quite what I was expecting. After
being so excited about a show I guess I'm bound to be at least a
little dissapointed. Mr. Paradinas played for I guess about an hour,
a decent mix of tracks of Tango 'n Vectif and Bluff Limbo athough some
of my favorites were missing. They were having some technical
problems intermittently and the sound could have been a bit better
(and louder). I don't know, there's something really wierd about
watching a bunch of people crowded around a guy twiddling knobs and
clicking his mouse while some of the most insane sounds ever are
coming out of the speakers. It's even wierder when this is taking
place inside a cruise ship that's drifting next to alcatrazz island.
After his set Mike went around the boat handing out copies of Bluff
Limbo (vinyl or cd) to everyone .... uhh, just kiding. Before and
after u-ziq Jonah Sharp was Dj'ing, his mixing skills aren't the
greatest but he played a nice IDM set, lots of tracks that I didn't
recognize but I'm pretty sure he played something off the new Gescom
ep in there somewhere. The boat pulled in about a half an hour before
the advertised 2am arival leaving some people feeling a little bit
shortchanged, especially since it left late.
All in all it was a pretty interesting experience, kind of a bummer
that there weren't anymore dates...Anyone go to the after party?
