one of you folks from the far side of the black atlantic posted an enquiry about the consequences of the 1994 criminal justice & public order act. it's here & it's hitting hard. an american periodical commissioned but never published my investigation into the passage & process of the act. anyone out there interested in publishing it, or even archiving the research, feel free to connect directly. (hey alan, does hyperreal have a political edge?) ciao, *des*

I, for one, would be interested to read your investigation. In light of the recent bombing in Oklahoma City, and as a general trend, I am concerned about civil liberties being eroded in a misguided effort to "protect us from them". The American public consistently say they are willing to give up rights and freedoms in order to "feel safe". Until they break down -your- door without probable cause. And all you were doing is listening to music with repetetive beats and drawing moustaches on pictures of H.R.M. ;-) On Sun, 23 Apr 1995 des@anubis23.demon.co.uk wrote:
