I compared the Caustic Window version to the commercial, they are different versions. Theres about six different remixes of the original, by Gershon Kingsley, two or three that are currently in commercials. None of them is Aphex's, I believe that one cant be reproduced because of copyright violations, thats why it wasnt on the Caustic Window compilation. Has anyone heard Gershon Kingsley's new version of popcorn which was done entirely on a Roland Groovebox? (MC-505) It's on this awesome (idea for a compilation) on Grand Royal. They gave one of these "techno grooveboxes" to some artists to see what they could do with it. Included are Jean Jacques Perrey, Buffalo Daughter, John McEntire, Air, Pavement, Money Mark, Beck, Sean Lennon, Gershon Kingsley, SOnic Youth, Bis, Cibo Matto, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, and Dick Hyman. Tracks are hit and miss (the Air one is GREAT if you like Air), but it's interesting to see what different routes these artists take with the constraint of equipment which is target-marketed towards the 4 to the floor crowd. The name of the comp is "At Home With The Groovebox" in case anyone is interested. At 09:03 AM 4/24/2000 -0700, you wrote:
