this is currently available and moving like hotcakes the "jedi" remix is dead on old school electro. i had the luxury of putting my copy through a PA up in canada this past weekend and lets just say that kids were poppin and lockin like back in the day. i'm 5K into my full review...stay tuned Teep also coming later this week, my take on "I care because you'd be a fool not to" and a proper review of the new 'the connection machine' offering on u-trax. Thick biz. btw: trackwise, the us and uk promos of ventolin are identical

isn't this record wonderful? now I want 2 so I can use those little break samples at the end of side 1 to scratch with, while that robotic voice rap thumps along on the other turntable. charming fart samples I might add.... ;) above my record crates I have the original K-TEL poster: "Breaking Moves by the New York City Breakers" and it has step-by-step diagrams of breakin' moves! (including the moonwalk, electric boogie/body poppin', backspin, top-rockin', and even the dreaded headspin). All that plus and a breakdance dictionary! Priceless. Not to sound trite, but electro isn't a big "comeback" for me, I just never quit listening to it in the first place. :) Another nice anthology (besides the excellent RHINO "street jams" series) is Tommy Boy's "Greatest Beats," featuring much more harder-to-find tracks. And don't forget that "Retro-Techno: detroit definitive" compilation. BTW, what label is that on? All I have is a crappy taped dub of it.... _______________________________________________________________________ Matt MacQueen Hypermedia Developer & Insomniac Communication Technology Laboratory, Michigan State Univeristy _______________________________________________________________________

They really should re-release this compilation very soon, or is it still available? Btw, does anybody know if the old Street Sounds 'Electro' series will be re-released (on CD)? There were some great tunes on those albums, including some classic Cybotron....

It was released by Network (UK), i believe the label is called Six6 now... For some up to date electro, check the new Spasms doublepack on Djax-Up-Beats. There's a nice techno/electro track on it as well as some acidic tracks. Talking about acid, does anybody know whatever happened to Bam Bam? I really like his track 'Where's Your Child' from around 1990... There's a couple compilations that are for sale through QVC that sound pretty decent. They're called Street Jams, and I've seen a Hip-hop versions and another one with electro, or electronic in the name. I can't quite remember exactly, but I'll post if I see the clip again. They played some samples along with it, and there was some nice toons, but I didn't catch a track list. Don't ask me what I was doing watching QVC. :) -Merrick Brown- -mvbrown@tenet.edu- -Vertigo-
