Finally got a chance to dance to some of the new Mo' Wax/NinjaTune brand o' funky stuff. Tuesday nite at the Cooler here in NYC. The evening started out with some wack house and rolled into some decent jungle. But around two, the DJ (I believe it was DJ Myself) threw on the DJ Shadow trak from Headz. The place (myself included) went apeshit. He followed with probably the phattest, funkiest, rump-bumpenist trak I've heard since, well, I don't know when. It was a DJ Myself trak that I didn't get the name of. Absolutely brilliant. The set continued for about an hour and featured DJ Krush, 9 Lazy 9 and others. I knew this stuff was good to listen to, but MAN, crank the bass up and go off. This evening was nothing short of a religious experience. Mo' Wax is THE shit. Hip hop gets intelligent. Bitchen'... Peace. On: Renegade Selector Series 2.2 (so sue me, ;) ||| oo- | ThE fLoAtInG hEaD oN < "Beats and bytes, baby. | tHe RoLlInG wAvEs Of = Beats and bytes..." | ThE cYbErSeA........

No one will sue you and if someone does. I'll defend you with my bare hands. Jungle is IDM on renegade selector 2.2, say what you will. for trainspotters: OMNI-TRIO is a guy who used to work with Nurse with Wound. Now he's putting out jungle. yep, it's legitimate now. Snow

No, actually for the "intelligent" style you should check out Wax Doctor, Omni Trio, Nut Nut, Roni Size, Deep Blue, etc. On RS 2 (or 2.2 for you unlucky people who could only find that) the styles hit the deep jungle turf, but don't really stay there. An excellent compilation, and comps usually suck. I think the term is now "hardstep" by the way. Hell of a lot better than "intelligent jungle"...

I haven't heard anything about Rob Haigh working with Nurse With A Wound. Can you cite your sources? By the way, Jungle has been legitimate for years, just cos you kids finally discover how fucking great it is doesn't make it legitimate. And, yes, deeper styles of hardcore have been around since '91. You just never noticed them.
