Hiya, I just called the guys from Mille Plateau and they said to me that the MP-11 EP is NOT an EP but the first record of the new double LP from Alec Empire. The release will be at the end of feb. The guy was wandering how I know something about this record. He said they sent only one copy to each store and the records are't for resale. He was very disappointed about the fact that somebody sells their promos. Hope that helps. Marc

Yeah, thanks! I bought it for 1UKP from whats called the 'promo bin'. This is where the shop dumps their promos and sells them cheaply. Yeah, its irritating for the labels, but it's bloody handy for everyone else. Plus, Mille Plateaux get me harping on about this new release and plugging it like hell until it's finally released. Sooooo; Alec Empire. What's his other stuff like? || [CiM] || u9323899@sys.uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/

alec empire used to put out a slew of breakcore records on force inc. some of the more notables included suecide1 and suecide2. he also tracks on the 'against the nazis' compilation and he did an ep with biochip c entitled 'das duell'. it was all really dirty sounding 'breakbeat'. didn't sound much like the british stuff, tho it had similar samples. a remix of a track off of suecide1 came out that was in a weird fucked-up housey vein. not too bad. he owns the label RIOT BEATS which is all breakcore. he also did a record recently with ian pooley thast was interesting. very trancey and spaced out. i guess nowadays he has changed style... .:damian / dieselboy .:rock the bells kid .:damian+@pitt.edu

Was this the same Alec Empire, who used to have a German band called Atari Teenage Riot? I remember the British music magazines trying to hype up this act a couple of years ago as some kind of 'radical techno punk band'. I think they vanished without a trace since... Thanks for the info. The Ian Pooley on Force Inc. (_Twin Gods_?) is pretty tasty BTW. I also listened to Alec Empires' retrospective LP on Mille Plateaux, although I couldn't afford it; its pretty nice as well tho' not as sculptured or as in your face as that promo. Looks like checking out however... || [CiM] || u9323899@sys.uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/
