I'm currently on an Electronic Symposium organizing comittee. Focusing on the use of New Technologies applied to all Arts Forms, our call for submissions has been sent all over the world. The deadline for entries regarding performances, exhibitions and Net Art is Over, BUT.... I'm "presiding" a comittee which focuses on a Cafe project, heart of the Symposium.( which will held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, next September) This entity will be the party place for one week, but will also includes telecommunication events with other cities, interactive works and Net access to art site. My first concern today is in the weeks to come to get adressess from Sites (Mosaic or others) which presents different aspects of Net Art implying mixmedias (experimental techno and ambient music with graphics, art... etc....) We should give access to this site during the week of the event, and are willing to developp an interface to direct connect to them. This has to be made prior to the event. My second concern is that two of us being deeply involved in the techno scene in Montreal have brought to the Organizing comittee the idea of a final Party. It has been agreed. It will imply a huge techno set-up. We are currently working on bringing over a VJ team from Australia as well as Djs from abroad. The Montreal visual group Synergie will also be involved. Artist from various area (robotics, computewr graphics) will also be involved. Sounds great. Yes , for us Techno music has a major place in such event But....... On other hand, regarding the 450 projects we've got I was quite disapointing to see No Art Works regarding the techno scene, and in the field of music to receive so much Dat tapes regarding ElectroAcoustic music. You know, people willing their music made with tapes to be heard in the contexte of this symposium. It's quite obvious that this music made with such hardware has Not its place in this event if we compare it to techno music. So my second concern is that in the context of the Cafe des Sens Emergents, we should have kiosks to freely look to tapes, hear Cds or tapes. I am wondering today, regarding the Boring musics we've got, if anybody out there would be interested if such a context exist, to send Promos that would be heard by attendees from all over the world that are going to attend this major event ???????? If anyone interested, contact me first........ The problem of such a symposium is who you reach, and unfortunately people we like from not so distant cities have not been informed, and it really disturbs me. ********************************************************************** Eric "Aleph6" Neurom-X Interactive Communication *********************************************************************
