From: Jon Drukman <jsd@ramona.cyborganic.com> Subject: dust brothers To: idm@hyperreal.com (idm music) Date: Fri, 20 Jan 1995 12:05:17 -0800 (PST) so i got to see the Dust Brother live last night... what a fun show! they slouched out, looking very unassuming. one mans a mixing desk, the other bounces up and down behind a rack of keyboards. they just bury their heads in the gear and WHAM! huge fat rocking hip hop beats blast the rafters, insane tweaky synth noises on top and loads of energy pouring out of the crowd. i was in heaven. they really know how to work the dancefloor energy, so although the set was short (30 mins or so), there was a lot in it... no idea lingered more than 3 or 4 minutes. the groove hits, then it's POW, break the track, change the style and move on! people were loving it. i heard bits of Dust Up Beats, Chemical Beats and Song To The Siren, among other stuff, all mixed up in a sonic goulash that had me totally satisfied. maybe even a little hungry for more! i was impressed, inspired and invigorated... or to sum it up differently: they saw, they conquered, i came. /j/
