Hi you all, just purchased some real great so called 'triphop'.... I suggest that we please have to call it's something else but.. anyway: U.N.K.L.E. - The Time Has Come EP - 2 12" - Mo Wax 028 Portishead - Glory Box - 12" - Go! Beat - GODX120 Strata 3 - (It's not) a mans world - 12" - Bush (test) * Well to start with the greatest: U.N.K.L.E. This double 12" contains remixes of the track 'Time has come' which was together with the track 'Martian Economics' on the Major Force West/Mo Wax release U.N.K.L.E. vs. Major Force.. What's on this: A1. "If you find earth boring" - U.N.K.L.E. Mix B1. Portishead plays U.N.K.L.E. Mix C1. Howie B. vs U.N.K.L.E. C2. "Coffee House Conversation" - Plaid Mix D1. "Sassafras" - Plaid Mix And on this double Mo Wax again goes a step further, really deep.. Could better call it psychedelic ambient hip hop or something or just leave those narrow-minded things.. It' music! U.N.K.L.E. are M. Kudo, T. Goldworthy and lable owner James Lavelle. The Plaid mixes are done by two of the three of The Black Dog (album will be released January 14th here in Holland), Ed Handley and Andy Turner. And the tracks are what remixes should be: a combination of two kinds of music and/or artists. Not like Mu-ziq (Auteurs), AFX (Saint Etienne, Curve) remixes which turn out to be 'just' new tracks of the remixing artists... About that Plaid thing, always thought Plaid was the pseudo used by Ken (the third Black Doggie) but this seems to be wrong, apologies... Track C2 is more up-tempo using the 'typical' BDP synths. D1 is a real combination of U.N.K.L.E. and Black Dog.. synergy at last.. But the other even aren't less. How I dare to say. Check out all tracks! Like those cool breakbeats in C1 and track A1 which has a lot of samples from the answering machine from James Lavelle like there is DJ Shadow, Ski.. And the Postishead remix which is a *real* Portishead remix To me the best Mo Wax release but that's maybe because I'm more into techno and (psycho)ambient and not into jazz... wow!! how narrow minded ;-) * Even Bush has gone into the jazambient hop things like Mo Wax (good trend followers they are..) I mean I don't have any Bush records but I thought they were more into 'swinging techno'.. Well the record goes more into techno as Mo Wax does.. it's sounds a bit like the track Ensemble on the Elegy EP on ART records (#006). I don't know if there's an official release.. It has test on the label of mine (or should that be the artist?). I think it's a one-sided promo. Only one track but really cool! It was produced by S. James, D. Jones and C. Child.. Never heard of them.. Maybe someone did? * The Portishead 12" is their third 12" of the album Dummy (to me the greatest album of 1994, maybe cause there weren't much good ones..). After Numb and Sour Times. Just like Sour Times there's the orginal, two remixes with vocals and one instrumental (how about some new?), and again it's that wonderful voice of Beth Gibbons which keeps me putting this record on and on... Just buy.. * btw. just purchase that Black Dog record saturday.. It has 19 tracks on it.. But it has some 'bolts' but besides those there are 12 real cool tracks left to listen to.. AND IT'S on WARP! The Black Dog don't want to and isn't going to do anything with GPR (just as Terrace does... GPR R.I.P.) It's sleeve isn't done by the designer republic. As 'different' as they want to be.. Inside of the sleeve Ken Downie delivers us a great computernetwork. Also there are apologies for unanswered letters and mail. 1995 definitely starts great! :))))) Cheers! Peel Seamus

Is this a limited edition release? Only on vinyl? I thought I saw an ad that said so. Just thought I'd ask before spending toooo much time looking for it. Has anyone in the US picked this up? (Mr. Seamus, I assume you're in the UK, since you already have the new Black Dog on vinyl?) Thanks for any info, ...James

the rekkid comes out on standard double 12" and also a limited double picture disc. any picture discs i've ever bought have been low sound quality so i'd stick to the regulars unless you're into visuals more than sounds. got my copy yesterday and it's smokin'. mo'wax-believe the hype later matt

The distributor of Warp here in Holland (PIAS) had put the sleeve of the new album in the shop.. That's the source of the info... The album was already finished in August btw. It's part of the marketing strategy they follow there is Sheffield (first Autechre and after that the release of Sabres..) ++++++++++ Can he dance? , Can he do it? +++++++++++ Peel Seamus
