At last, someone speaks the truth. I suspect that Mr. Hawtin's popularity is due to the general lack of talent amongst DJs nowadays. As a friend of mine said about Plastikman, "I can mix ANYTHING to his shit". Since his musik tends to be SO minimal, a mediocre DJ doesn't have to work very hard to find something that will mix with it. I suspect this is also why I NEVER hear any excellent IDM at clubs or raves - it takes a very good DJ to mix to a complex piece of music. I consider Musik to be fine as DJ fodder, but full-length CD material it ain't. It just doesn't stand up to repeated listening.
