What are everyone's opinions on the new 808 State track on TEEX 3? I was quite surprised. Especially considering how horrid Gorgeous was. Is this group back or what? Does anyone else think that Pacifica is one of the classic jams of all time? That was one of the first "techno" tracks I had ever heard (five or six years ago) and it's still beautiful. Nothing like driving from SF to LA with that blasting on the old stereo... Also: WHen's the new Sabres album coming out? Peace and more peace. ||| oo < = JohnV, The Floating Head on the Rolling Waves of the CyberSea...

I dunno if they're back (I haven't heard Bombadin/Marathon, let alone the new album - there is one, right?), but I found the spin they put on their recent efforts in the TEX article interesting. I don't think many will buy their "we've never not been experimentalists" line, given how clearly awful Gorgeous was.

"Bombadin" is horrible pseudo-tribal crap. "Marathon", though, is kinda cute in that "this track is pretty goofy but I like it anyway" mode.

Well, Bombadin/Marathon is even worse. Repetitive nonsense. But then again, once you've heard Global Communication's _Pentamerous Metamorphosis_, everything else sounds second rate (except 76:14, which is equally magnificent). As far as I know _Gorgeous_ is still their most recent album. -bob OnNow: G.C. - Pent. Meta. - Beta Phase (heavenly, man)

I have to say I agree. I bought this last weekend having read nuothing but praise for it anywhere, and I was not disappointed. 76:14 is being gravitated towards my collection at this moment. J ^

I just mentioned my albums all time and two of 808 state should be in there too. Ninety is absolutely great. Also Ex:el but that one is less 'techno' as the ninety album is. Fav tracks: Magical Dream and Cobra Bora (album vrs.) Cheers, Peel Seamus

I thought it was pretty good...not as cool as "Flow Coma" but what is. As fer "Gorgeous," there was one track I liked, I think it's called Southern Cross. As to whether they are back er not...I'm holding judgement. Hope so...tho...

Pacific was cool, the album State 90 (US version on Tommy Boy) , is one of my all time favs. Cobra Bora, 808080808, Cubik. Check out the UK version on ZTT, 808:90, cause some of the mixes are different, Ancodia has some great samples thrown in (it doesn't have as many tracks as the TB release tho). ~~~bleep~~~bleep~~~transmat@teleport.com
