Has anyone checked this out? I just found it today on German import and it can only be described as...exquisite. It seems to be a Peter-and-the-Wolf-esque story/song type of piece. It even comes complete with a human voice introducing the three characters and the sounds associated with each on the first track, aptly named "Intro." The voice also recites a passage in German of which there is a transcript (also in German) in the liner. The passage is credited to one "Erasmus." The cover art is quite impressive, involving Mr. Vath's head in various states of computer-generated enhancement. Finally, the music is simply beautiful, ranging from lush ambient on "Harlequin's Meditation" to strong trance/techno on "Robot." From the liner: "to achieve the maximum impact of this music the author recommends: listen to this... from the beginning to the end - without interruption!" Here we have another miracle from Sven Vath. Track listing: 1. intro 5:04 2. harlequin plays bells 9:12 3. harlequin--the beauty and the beast 9:57 4. harlequin's meditation 12:44 5. the birth of robby 10:04 6. robot 7:43 7. ballet--romance 0:50 8. ballet--fusion 9:11 9. ballet--dancer 8:03 Total time: 72:48 --/\/\ichael Listening to: Sven Vath: "the birth of robby"

Desiderius Erasmus was a Dutch scholar who lived during the Renaissance. A Christian humanist, his accomplishments included being the first to publish a Greek edition of the New Testament. this is going to annoy somebody somewhere, but i have to ask: who really did the music? sven vath has said in interviews that he doesn't play the keys or sequence or anything and that ralph hildenbeutel does it (which to me means the albums should really be under ralph's name). accident in paradise is a _GREAT_ album, but i can't help but think that the guy whose name is on it smells more than a little of rock star syndrome, albeit in this small subculture. - Dan lo.fat.sig - The 8-Bit Collective/8-Bit Records * US/Finland - lo.fat.sig Dan Nicholson +1-908-687-3479 - moddan@vlad.bowker.com

Re: Sven Vath's : _Beauty And The Beast_ 12" Has anyone seen the cover to this? It is truly the most abysmal cover design ever to grace a techno 12". If you haven't seen it, its a (badly) generated computer figure of a Harlequin with Svens digitised face over the top. A nice idea, its just a shame that it fails totally. My mate bought it for the Underworld rmx and was embarassed to buy it due to this cover. The Underworld rmx dumps all over the original, BTW. [CiM]

I would have thought so. Its on Eye-Q but WEA have licensed it so I guess so. I wouldn't bother buying it myself; the Underworld remix kicks but thats about it. OnNow: Plastikman _Ethnik_ (on the _Plastique_ promo I found for 2UKP!) [CiM] "Birth, school, acid hous, death" - Jockey Slut
