Scorn is a perpetual topic of conversation over on rec.music.industrial,
because the main personages behind it are veterans of the Industrial
Grindcore end of the spectrum, namely Mick Harris formerly of Napalm Death
and also currently of God. Justin Broadrick of Godflesh appeared on
several of the early Scorn releases as well. Justin has released several
solo-oriented recordings which could be called "Ambient" of a sort; just
not the "Ambient" most of us are used to - he did an album called "Ghosts"
as Techno Animal which is absolutely stupendous, and another project called
"One" as Final which is sort of "minimalistic guitar ambient", whatever that
means :-) (Durutti Column it ain't)
Back when I was an Industrialist I was quite fond of Scorn; as there are
several Former Industrialists With A Clue on this list, perhaps others
will chime in with their opinions ... I was intrigued by the sticker saying
"Redefining Ambient Dub", but not enough to buy it.
