I can see Mark and Tom getting bigger and bigger grins on their faces reading all your posts.. Off course the Evolution crew is amazing.. Though I would like to see some more releases in the techno vain, because I'm finding that I'm missing that "sequenced" and "constructed" feeling that techno used to have.. High-end production sometimes kills some of the fun of the music for me.. Take old Speedy J releases for instance.. You could just imagine the hulking Dutchman plunking away at his gear, banging out parts. Now, it seems to foreign and inhuman.. This is much like the comment that Suzanne gave me during the summer about how you could just feel the soul and personality seaping out of old Mayday tracks.. Take "Relic/Longer than long ago" or "Nude Photo".. both are intensely lo-fi and obivous in their method, but I think that's what gives them a sense of warmth and pleasure.. That's why I can't get into FSOL stuff.. Sure, their old 12" like Indo Tribe and Mental Cube are wicked, but their new stuff lacks that fun and "basement" feel.. Just a couple of thoughts.. Cheers!
