i, like everyone like to keep current, but when i found the only altern 8 cd single that i had missed for $1.99 at hmv, i decided to dig up all of my alter 8 and give it another listen. i remember what my attraction to them was in the first place. they seem to posses a certain quality that i can't explain (can't explain well at least). altern 8 seems to be a mix of mindless nosebleed bass and fast beats, but, there is a much deeper musical value to the music as well. i remember when i first heard brutal 8 e i was amazed at the layers that were created, layer upon layer of REAL MUSIC. the sense of humour that is found in the music, titles of tracks (brutal 8 e, e vapor 8, activ 8, hypnotic st8, basically the whole play on words thing), the publicity stunts (full on.. liner notes), and the overall attitude is mixed with actual TALENT. the mix is something that you can dance to and listen to - a description of idm. i'm not a mad a8 fan, but there is certainly a quality to the persona that was humerous, but the product that they put out was also enjoyable as well. i have a question... what ever happened to a8? i know mark archer is involved in slo moshun, but that just seems to fall short - it's just commercial house to me - don't get me wrong, i like house music, but, slo moshun seems to lack. does anyone know if we can expect anything in the future from a8, or maybe nexus 21? thx, rb
