news from billboard there's a pair of interesting articles in this week's Billboard magazine about a UK-based group called CEREBUS who apparently have put together some sort of music distribution service using the Internet and a specialized client program that runs under Windows. anybody know anything more about it? the articles didn't say much other than they deliver near-CD quality audio using specialized compression techniques, and that they can deliver a 3 minute song over the lines in 5 minutes. lots of the details concerning payment (both on the consumer and artist sides) need to be worked out but it sounds intriguing. especially, as the article notes, since it has the potential to undermine the entire music industry. (good for them!) also, jeff, mike and myself got mentioned in the dance trax column... woo hoo. /jon
