on the medicine label, Medicine dropped FRD. There new album album will be out next month on Astralwerks and sports a wicked track with double entendre (sic?) meaning, "I Need Drugs". --------------------- Forwarded message: Subj: cancellations... Date: 94-07-18 02:36:10 EDT From: SO94014@gsvms2.cc.gasou.edu To: AWerks 1. i'd like to see the selection from this article where it says that warner is cancelling all techno projects. 2. i'm not sure if i believe this. 3. wanna know why? a. pretty unsubstantial proof. if i turned to billboard and saw this, i would believe it, but on the net, taken from some 'zine, i'm sorry. but no. b. warner is not a group of stupid fools. they know what sells and what won't. 4. it's funny, all this afx hype. i wonder how much warner paid alternative press, option, and all those other magazines to run stories on aphex twin. 5. what about moby? i imagine he pulls in enough sales to convince anyone at warner's there is a market. i bet SAW2 would have sold a lot more if it had been more like r. james past material, such as digeridoo...as much as i dislike aphex hype, SAW2 was not a commercial album by any means. no matter what the press said, it was not an album for mass consumption. i liked it a lot, but then again, i bang metal pipes together and think they make the neatest sound. 6. who really cares about warners anyway? most of us buy imports anyway, right? the most we could miss is "futurhythms vol. 2" and fierce ruling diva, both on the medicine label, novamute's worthless disposable trance nonsense, etc. nothing there i ever cared for. but of course, don't forget novamute is a UK label. so we'd have to go back to buying imports. and i can imagine loads of people out there want to see moby shut down... (i'm not one of them) 7. i've heard so many people screaming about the death of techno, here it comes, it dying out...maybe they are right. maybe this is the farthest techno will ever go. i just don't think it's for everyone anymore like i used to. oh well.
