hi there -
i've recently gotten the "one a.d." compilation from waveform and i am
particularly enjoying the 'soma holiday' track from G.O.L.
does anyone know anything about G.O.L.?
i've never heard of them, and i'd love to hear more of them if they are as
consistently good as this track seems to indicate.
btw, i remember reading mixed reviews of this compilation, but i'd have to say
that i weigh in on the strongly positive side.
for those of you who haven't heard it, it could probably be described as
mostly ambient, mostly dub, very lush, and thoroughly electronic.
the bpm's are generally around 100, and the beat structures stay away from the
straight, 4/4 house rhythms - - usually they're rolling, rock-type beats
with a little swing on the sixteenths. lot's of bubbling 303's, kraftwerkian
high hats. heavy delay and reverb...
very spacey, some classical indian references, react 2 rhythm-type female
vocal chants, moody, nice colors.
