Don't know much about equipment, but A.P.L. stands for A Positive Life.
The two members of APL are Patrick Morsman and Stef Pierlejewski. Their
hobbies include watching rainbows and blowing bass bins (but who doesn't
enjoy these things?). This is according to the One A.D. compilation
from Waveform (US), which has two mixes of "The Calling":
