No matter how many may sneer at me for liking 'pop' dance music, I will
stand behind One Dove all the way. I think they're fun to dance to as well
as listen to and Dot _is_ quite cute. They are in fact quite pop as one
person said, but he never went on to explain why this was a bad thing.
Actually, I'd like to ask the whole list that question.
I think it's pretty obvious that most ravers and techno fans subconsciously
feel that 'pop' music is bad music, but why? I will admit to being one of
these people in the sense that pop music has never done the same for me as
techno, but why do some people turn that around and start thinking that pop
music is _necessarily_ bad music?
here's my schematic of the logical flaw many ravers fall victim to:
dislike of music which is pop => pop music is bad music.
sounds reasonable enough at first, right? problem is though, the original
'pop music' term is a variable, and as it changes, the first statement
should always be reevaluated and the second should change accordingly,
right? but many ravers experience the first statement, discover the second
to be true, never listen to pop music again, and lose their ability to
judge music on its merits instead of its labels.
well, now that i took what should've been a short question and turned it
into the college application essay from hell, what does everyone think?
