>(either vinyl or CD). But then again, what does album mean?
Album is a funky word, dating back to when records were very brittle
and ran at 78 RPM. You can't fit a lot of music on a 78 RPM disc, so
full-length releases (like complete symphonies) were spread across
many 78 RPM discs. These discs were then collected into a big storage
case which looks like a book, or a photo album, with the records being
individual "pages" in the album... hence the term album.
Thus when 33 RPM was invented (the 33 vs 45 war is an interesting, if
unrelated, story), you could suddenly fit an entire "album" of music
on one disc. Which was called a Long Player or LP to distinguish it
from Short Players (ie: 78 RPM discs).
Basically, I try to short-circuit all the confusion by using the terms
"full length", "EP" and "single".

i think you should just avoid the vinyl at all costs... until Warp
decides to pull its head out of its butt and start using decent vinyl.
the CD sounds very nice and i can't imagine having to deal with snap
crackle and pop on this release.
