To: "I.D.M." <IDM@techno.Stanford.EDU> Sender: idm-owner@techno.Stanford.EDU It's been a while since i tried this one but. . .choon id time. There's a track that I heard while lucid dreaming on the dance floor at a rave called Quest. (Providence, RI) DJ Onionz was on the tables at the time and the symphony of sound coming out of the PA was ethereal. The track seemed to be swamped deep in the speaker. Almost as if it was recorded in outer space (read: reverb mania). There was a simple and pleasant jangling guitar riff and a vocal sample of the Beatles *love, love, love* (From All You Need Is Love). This rave was quite a while ago, years in fact, so it's an oldie. At one time it was unclearly identified as a Phenomania track, Strings of Love. Can any of you geezers confirm this? Anyone have this track collecting dust in their bins? Thank you, Teep (aran@mitvmc.mit.edu) ATTN-Robert Williams I recd. your check for BDP Bytes, Thanks. This sample is also used on the Remix ii of Close your eyes by Acen, on Production House records. ACEN have a good style of choppin' up the breakbeats. I do own this 12" and there is no way that I will get rid of it. Oh no I have been lying , this ACEN track uses "here comes the sun" from the beatles....... Sorry I'm sure this track is better. I do remember a 12" ep being released in '89 which was beatles covers with a 303 and 909 and was very hard to get hold of. (under-the-counter sort of stuff) While we are on the subject , does any one Know the track that samples/uses New Orders - Blue Monday, released in 90/91 and was a typical hardcore breakbeat stylee choon. It was excellent, since I used to have it on a mix tape. chillin' JD
