If you like Trans Am, then Golden is worth checking out. Golden are 4 guys from Bmore/DC area, one of whom is Phil Manley the guitarist/keyboardist of Trans Am. They don't use any keyboards or vocoders or anything (actually I believe Golden are 100% instrumental except for one or two tracks on their first album), just two guitars, bass, and drums. And the drummer of Golden is very good at densely arranged, high-tempo percussion, kinda like Sebastian of Trans Am, but with his own particular flair. They have two albums out on CD (the one I have is 'Super GOLDEN Original Movement' [Slowdime 21], still looking for the first album tho) and a handful of 7 and 12 inchers you should buy _immediately_ if you ever see any of them in a store since they are all long out of print.
