True. I've had the pleasure of reviewing "The Essential Fripp and Eno" this month. Plus, Caroline is releasing Seefeel's Quique in the US.

California Dreaming leans more toward trance/house. The Hawke tracks I've heard are more house than anything else, and there isn't a single track on California Dreaming that I'd consider "ambient."

As for the "true sense", I probably shouldn't have used such direct words. Saying that there's "true" ambient music or nothing at all is a bit too heady and snobbish. Basically I'm saying that there's ambient music in the sense of late 70's Eno &c, and this ethno-house that some labels are declaring to be "ambient" to the general public. There is plenty of good ambient music in the US, but most of it is never released or put out on smaller labels. I'm rather proud of Reflective for releasing some FAX material here in the US. As for Dave Spalding, the name sounds familari. Operating out of the gulf? The Gulf of Mexico? The Persian Gulf? Details, please, I'm interested... Peace, Matt <(hcy)> XLR8R Magazine, Seattle
