I know I am probably one of the last people to get my hands on the "Flying High" disc by The Irresistible Force...but i still must make a few comments. I bought the album with slight trepidation having been unfortunate enough to have never heard the Irresistible Force before...i thought that it could be overhyped like moby or the aphex twin...and i also thought i would have overestimated it in my imagination...but lo and behold...my imagination was nowhere near the quality of the disc... i played the first track...and that was all i needed to let me know i would be in for one hell of a jam... sure enough i was...i wrote down all the tracks so i could write about each one...but i left it at home...(i really need to get a computer at the house)... the disc has six tracks, but it is 73:00 in length...the last track is "mountain high"...and it says its live...and its 20:00+ in length... i think the shortest track is around 9:00... overall, the music is incredible...the slogan..."i think therefore i ambient" is quite appropriate...but the underlying message is one i would take issue with...there seems to be a recurring statement...which in my opinion is "do drugs...do lots of drugs" but with music on this level...what is the need? i mean if you listened to miili vanilli...yeah maybe then you would need to be on something...but music like the Irresistible Force is a prepackaged trip...well maybe not that drastic...but it certainly is appealing... it has enough atmosphere for the sense of space and enough beat to keep its edge...the samples are nicely blended and sparsely placed giving the music more mystery...more room to sit back and imagine on your own...it is not the type of music that relies on sampling at a ridiculously high level...or more plainly...if you removed the samples, the music could stand on its own. am i rambling? well...with no further ado...i reccomend the music...but not the overall view of its maker... but hey...who the hell am i? later on, jasonosaj. @@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@@ j a h 1 0 @ r a . m s s t a t e . e d u @@@ @@@ @@@ --------------------------------------- @@@ @@@ @@@ b R o t H e R A l p H a B e T @@@ @@@ @@@ --------------------------------------- @@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@-how many days to oblivion anyway?????-
