you can name names; anyway it's all recorded in the archives.
first of all, i have a hard time calling sun electric's "kitchen" or
human mesh dance ambient. and anyway, check out my latest IDM Times
(just sent out 5 mins ago) which has a glowing review of sun
electric's "o'locco" - something i find FAR more ambient than
"kitchen" even though it's not ambient really. i don't gratuitously
slam things you know; i do try to maintain some measure of
objectivity.

you ARE against constructive criticism. why don't you want to read a
bad review? how can you learn anything without a bad review? if you
like, for all future editions of the IDM Times, i'll put the bad
reviews at the end with a banner - WARNING: BAD REVIEWS AHEAD and a
formfeed so you can delete the message without ever seeing them.
if you take reviews as gospel, you're doing yourself a disservice. i
take the time to learn about reviewers and the music, thus i can
usually tell from what i read whether i'll like a given record or not.
not a foolproof system but it works 90% of the time for me.
maybe you have a problem with reviews as a general category - in that
case i recommend you don't read them and stick to the boring factual
articles... "aphex twin to release a 57 CD box set on may 17th
retailing for $9000 containing 4 billion songs, all .5 seconds long, in
split-stereo format."
me, i like discussion.
