I would also add TErry Riley's albums "A Rainbow in Curved Air" and
"Terry Riley in C", from the late 60s on Columbia. Experimental
modern classical music, very sonically beautiful and quite
ambient, with some bursts of energy; the music rises and falls
like waves. "Rainbow in Curved Air" uses several electric organs and
percussion, while "In C" is for a small orchestra. Can't
recommend Mr. Riley too highly.
