Well, today must have been my extra special, super duper, all around lucky
day, because I managed to track down Trance Europe Express at a local record
shop. I was amazed when the guy on the phone said it was right in front of
him! (I got it on CD, and they sell mostly records).
Anyway, I got it for $31, and it has got to be the all-time best deal I've
EVER gotten for my money. This comp. comes with over 2.5 HOURS of some of
the best music anywhere! Plus, since its a 'volume' comp., it came with a
couple hundred page book, packed with info on all the groups, including the
likes of Orbital (who's newest track, so far only released on this comp., is
making me impatient for their next album.), The Orb, Moby, 777, and too many
others. (A list of the tracks was posted here a few days ago. Or maybe it
was the klf/orb list. Well, one of the two).
All I can say, is that anyone even remotely interested in hearing what the
current state of house/trance sounds like, MUST get this collection, if for
no other reason than most of the tracks are special mixes, or previously
unreleased mixes.
One quick question before I leave... has this been released domestically in
the U.S. yet? If not, then I feel doubly lucky, since they probably could
have gotten away with gouging the hell out of the price. (Based on other
imports I've seen lately, most notably the Waaayyy overpriced Technodon II,
I'd say I'd expect this to sell for $40-$50, if it isn't available domestically
yet.) But who cares? If you manage to find it, consider yourself lucky already.
