here's one man's opinion on aphex for you (S.Quigg). . .first up you mention 2
words that apply hard here . .numero uno. . QUALITY (which sustains itself and
when other tracks fall to the wayside in a month or less an aphex track has
unprecedented shelf life). . .dos. . .DUB (not your junior boys dub i'm talking
black uhuru and prince far i dub). . .add to this an appreciation for BASS
equivalent to what's going down in Miami hip hop. . .and the ability to come
out HARD as granite and LIGHT as rain (sometimes in the same track. . .the kid
puts crazy tops in all his tracks). . .ORIGINALITY he's got equiptment that's
been tweaked by SCIENCE that the green men left behind at lands end after they
set up stonehenge . . .add to this a total (and beautiful) lack of respect for
what the *mainstream* is doing with all it's cracked *creative* nonsenseability
and you've got some of his work covered. . .ha! |Q
