It is trance yes, but I think it goes deeper than that. Namely Gumbo, Genetic,
Total Eclipse and Mandra Gora have tracks with structure, and some of them
even have also melodies. The production is very dark and the overall tone is
gloomy as hell, but the compilation holds up pretty well even though not all
of the tracks are good. The bpms clock at about 140-150, so one could even
dance to those tracks .) average IQ 90
Another CD that's been on heavy roation is the 3MB featuring Juan Atkins:
Jazz is the Teacher. Obviously it has heavy jazz invluences and it samples
some guitar while the beats are funky and programmed a bit further than the
average 4-bar loop crap. It's a double 12" or single CD out on Tresor (sorry
no code, I don't have it with me now). Average IQ 100
