That is one extreme. Caring too much is another. Sure, care about getting your music heard, if you're making it. But don't make it for someone else, unless you want to just use skills and not personal creativity (but hey, much more likely to get paid decently). Don't make your music thinking about what will sell; make your music then find a way to sell it. IF you want to be creative. If you just want money, don't try to make your own sound; fit into a genre, have a look, get a buzz, etc. Or get a "job" in the industry.

Music is a hell of a lot more than just sound. Emotion/vibration/taste/connection/communication/style/etc the list goes on and on. Hell, some music is more4 about the absences of sound than where the sound is placed. Anyone who suggests they make music for themselves is saying that music is also personal healing/therapy/growth/understanding of self et al. And the're saying that's WHY you make it, not all you think about. I would highly suggest not quitting.

Meh, if people only want to make music because of others, I'd suggest they do quit. Nevyn Nowhere http://www.happyhumans.org Sad Music for Happy Humans
