making me justify my words, eh?? :) i used to follow politics closely. i found that, in the long run, it breaks your heart over and over. once caring lads become bitter and jaded. who votes for these jerks that keep getting elected and screwing things up? WHY do people vote that way? do they WANT to mess things up? ...of course not. people make the best decision they can. they vote for the suit they feel is most aligned with their interests, and the interests of the country. they do what they can with the information and education they have. this doesn't make them bad people -- they are simply ignorant, and afraid. fear is powerful, and tends to swamp the logical part of the brain. imagine if all these people suddenly had a proper lesson on US history, the constitution, and came to realize how politics is (currently) a giant game of scaring people into voting a particular way. would they still vote the same way? of course not. if you make a lot of noise, maybe you can swing things towards the way of liberty and justice for the current round, but you'll have to start all over for each election. however, if you educate people and break ignorance's stranglehold on America, that is a gift that will keep on giving. if you teach a man to fish... Maybe this should go off-list, too. Pretty OT, but it is important :) --Geoff On Wed, Sep 24, 2008 at 8:59 PM, Sam Marginson (FORUM8) <sam@forum8.co.jp> wrote:
