I'm plugging my own solution, but Bleep and other download stores could use metalinks instead of zipping up a collection of music files for easy download. zipping is expensive, eating up server resources in CPU time and diskspace. with a metalink, a small XML file used by download apps, you can add a bunch of files to a download queue, add checksums & other info to verify that files have been downloaded error free or are automatically repaired, & add album artwork, descriptions, and extra mirrors to make it more reliable. about 30 apps support it now, but no mainstream browsers, so it's a bit cutting edge. here's a screenshot of a Ubuntu ISO metalink about to be downloaded with DownThemAll, a Firefox extension: http://www.metalinker.org/images/dta_ubuntu.png -- (( Anthony Bryan ...
