I wanted to send out a little reminder about tommorow night (tue. july 11) at Baltic Room. J. Hunsberger is playing live at OSCILLATE (tuesdays at Baltic Room) for the un-initiated-- J. Hunsberger is easily one of the more outstanding techno producers in the genre. he records for Mike Shannon's label Cynosure and the Mutek label as well and this past weekend was a featured artist at the Soundwave Festival in Vancouver BC. J. also played at last years' Decibel Festival and anyone who caught his set knows the beautiful sound he brings. this will be a great show and I HIGHLY reccomend checking it out! below is the show copy...enjoy! cheers..... SENSORY EFFECT presents OSCILLATE-- Tuesdays at The Baltic Room--1207 pine st. Seattle WA 10p 21+ $8 at the door with residents GREG SKIDMORE and ELECTROSECT live visuals by Scott James (of The Now Device) Tue. July 11 we welcome special guests J. HUNSBERGER (cynosure, revolver canada) With previous releases on the Mutek_Rec and Revolver labels - this producer has his minimal head screwed firmly on. After jockeying for ten years, it's clear he knows exactly what goes down well on the dancefloor - witness his subtle way with a melody and obscured vocals. Using his voice as a key sample source, Hunsberger synthesizes the sound into rhythm and melody, creating percussion, bass, strings and complex vocal interplay where there was none. His is a minimal yet chunky, twisted yet accessible electronic funk seamlessly forming links between genres. Think that techno, broken beat, dub, breaks and drum 'n' bass are now but distant cousins? Hunsberger unselfconsciously reminds of the collective root. DJ EDDIE (enviornmental Structures-SEA) Seattle's DJ Eddie is such a smooth, adaptable techno/house DJ that he tends to get taken for granted by locals. Mistake. He reads crowds like a lit proffessor reads James Joyce and his selections are always apropos for the situation. Plus, he rocks the Dominik Eulberg like nobody's business --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Next-gen email? Have it all with the all-new Yahoo! Mail Beta.
