Recently, there was an intriguing thread on Boxcutter and 2 Step, which
inspired me pick up Boxcutter's "Oneiric" and some 2 Step compilations
from the budget bin. I like this sound a lot! This seems to be a very
fertile musical melange.
The compilations I picked up from the budget bin were "Vital 2 Step" and Artful Dodger's
"Rewind". Both comps have some really catchy tracks, as well as some rather
mainstream-sounding drivel. The Groove Chronicles tracks on "Vital 2
Step" are the standouts for me at this point.
I like the IDM bent of Boxcutter, while I also like the perkier syncopation of
the compilations I got.
If someone could point me in the direction of any good compilations of IDM-ish or gospel/R&B-influenced 2 Step (or better yet, a combination of the two), I'd greatly appreciate it!
