if you can make it to this show, you should. we just had them here in
colorado and the show was awesome, definitely worth catching live. they
played a much more lively set then what is on the CD, and they are super
nice guys on top of that.

> More about our guests:
>
> JAN JELINEK + KOSMISCHER PITCH BAND
> http://www.scape-music.de/
>
> Jan Jelinek is a Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist. Along with creating
> music under the Farben and Gramm pseudonyms, Jelinek creates shimmering
> compositions under his given name. According to Popmatters.com, his most
> recent release, 2005s Kosmischer Pitch (tranlates as Cosmic Pitch), is
> not the usual minimal, chin-stroking fare. In fact, it's downright lush,
> layering processed samples, abstract ambience, unobtrusive beats, and the
> requisite glitchy noises. Tracks start small, and gradually bloom into
> colorful, complex settings. Jelineks current musical focus centers
> primarily upon collaboration; his first Chicago appearance in more than a
> year will find him performing with guests, Kosmischer Pitch Band.
>
> PRESS:
> Again Jelinek has assembled an album designed to work as a whole, with a
> consistent palette and tracks that bleed one into the next. Not a single
> track on Kosmischer Pitch would sound correct placed on any another
> Jelinek
> album, which, at a time when so many great electronic producers seem to
> have
> become prisoners to their own sound, is a surpassing virtue. Down deep
> Jelinek has base aesthetic principals to guide him, but he's clearly
> unafraid of change. Let's hope future explorations lead somewhere this
> engaging. Album rating: 8.0
> -PITCHFORKMEDIA.com
>
> Jelineks career has been marked by excellence no matter which moniker he
> adopts. He hasnt received the glowing critical acclaim or robust sales
> figures of other musicians to whom hes either equal or superior. I hope
> to
> remedy this injustice. My favorite album of 2005.

>
> Named beatsmith of the year by RE:UP Magazine and touted by XLR8R as
> one
> of the few producers who can write keyboard lines with hooks as huge as
> any
> sample, Eliot Lipp has had a busy year. His sophomore full-length,
> Tacoma
> Mockingbird, has been championed by the likes of Pitchfork Media, RE:UP,
> Remix and URB magazines. Released earlier this year, and described by
> Resonance Magazine as the record the Warp crowd was never sincere enough
> to
> make, Tacoma Mockingbird is a masterful take on instrumental hip-hop.
> The
> remainder of 2006 will find Eliot Lipp releasing a new EP, and touring
> throughout Europe and North America. Highlights of Summer touring will
> consist of festival appearances at Mutek Fest (Montreal, Canada), Sonar
> Fest
> (Spain), Elettrowave/Arezzo Wave Fest (Italy), Shitkatapults Shitparade
> Fest (Germany), Knockout Fest (Switzerland).
>
> PRESS:
> Parse it as G-funk gone Eurocrunk, an instrumental rap version of M83,
> the
> heir apparent to Ratatat's squishy arena-rock-hop, what have youEliot
> Lipps "Rap Tight" is a cool wave rolling down the Sunset Strip; just as
> it
> starts to rock out in earnest, it glitches and stutters into the toxic
> sunset. GZA once bragged that the Wu Tang Clan was strictly bass on
> keyboards; Lipp's strictly breaks and synths, and turns the simple formula
> to similar advantage.
> -PITCHFORKMEDIA.com
>
> Lipp has taken downbeat & hip-hop breaks, and coupled them with leads
> from
> his Sequential Circuits and Korg MS-20 synths
besides being a dope album,
> this is simply an inspirational record for all producers striving to get
> more life out of their sounds. An immensely pleasurable listen.

> SIGNALDRIFT
> http://www.consumerslabel.net
>
> Milwaukee resident Franz Buchholt, better known as Signaldrift, records
> cinematic ambient sounds that are highly danceable. Getting his start as
> half of the duo Pargo, Buchholt has gone on to release several projects
> on
> such esteemed electronic labels as Audraglint and Wobblyhead. Drawing
> inspiration from such auteurs as Cocteau Twins, Kraftwerk and Slowdive,
> Signaldrift creates pastoralbeats that are simultaneously highly danceable
> in their own right. Textura.org described his most recent effort, Set
> Design, as meditative, hazy and full of dreamy character. This will
> be
> the first Chicago performance from Signaldrift in almost a year.
