Alan, I understand what you're saying in your message, but *Lightning Bolt* is one of those things that you need to become acquainted with -- they are that good. I can't guarantee that you'll become a lifelong fan, but it is essential that you become familiar with them. If you're looking for a starting point, I'd recommend the album *Wonderful Rainbow*, although all of their albums tread similar territory and are of similar quality.
